A further update on Kevin De Bruyne’s injury status is expected after Manchester City train later today. City’s inspirational midfielder went off injured against Tottenham on Tuesday night. De Bruyne was on the receiving end of a nasty looking challenge from Pape Sarr during the second half of City’s win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Pep Guardiola was asked about Kevin De Bruyne’s condition during his pre-game press conference today. He informed the media that City had yesterday off and would return to training today. He told the media: “We will see today. Yesterday he was off, today we train.”

In an interview with SkySports yesterday, Kevin De Bruyne believes he will be alright. When asked about his condition, he said: “I think I’m alright. It’s a bit sore. In that moment, it felt a little bit like a knife going down my leg. But it’s an impact injury, so it’s not bad, not bad. We will be alright.”

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City will be hoping to have Kevin De Bruyne available for Sunday’s clash with West Ham. The club legend will have a pivotal role to play if he is fit for Sunday’s title decider. He set up Erling Haaland’s opening goal against Tottenham, and his ability to unlock West Ham’s defence may be crucial at the Etihad Stadium.

Attention will now shift to any updates from Manchester City training later today. The hope is that there will be a positive update on Kevin De Bruyne’s condition given how important he is to the world champions.
